Method and formula
TextEncoder produces UTF-8 bytes for encoding. Decoding validates the standard alphabet, padding and canonical padding bits, then uses a strict UTF-8 TextDecoder. Whitespace in Base64 input is ignored.
Limits and supported input
Base64 is an encoding, not encryption: anyone can decode it. Binary bytes that are not valid UTF-8 are rejected. This tool expects padded standard Base64, not base64url.

This tool processes the input in your current browser tab. It does not upload your input or call a paid or remote API. Copying places text on your system clipboard; downloading saves a file on your device. Site hosting logs, analytics, ads, third-party embeds and other installed plugins are separate and can have their own data handling. JavaScript is required for the tool, while this explanation remains available without it.
