Shift supplied SRT timestamps and download UTF-8 subtitles with explicit negative-time handling.
n Inputs are processed locally by this tool. Other site plugins, hosting logs, ads and embeds have their own data handling. Text limit: 1 MiB UTF-8.
How to use SRT Subtitle Time-offset Tool
- Paste SRT or choose a UTF-8 SRT file.
- Enter the signed offset and negative-time policy.
- Review the adjusted cue count and text, then download and check synchronization.
Example
With an offset of +1.5 seconds, 00:00:01,000 becomes 00:00:02,500. A negative offset needs an explicit policy if a cue crosses zero.
Method and formula
Each SRT cue needs a numeric index, a valid start/end timestamp and text. The millisecond-rounded offset is added to both times. Negative results are either rejected, clamped to zero or dropped, as explicitly selected. Remaining cues are renumbered and text is preserved. Timestamp position settings after the end time are retained.
Limits and supported input
SRT files must be valid UTF-8 and at most 1 MiB. Offsets range from −86,400 to 86,400 seconds. Clamping can create zero-duration cues; dropping can remove text. This tool adjusts supplied subtitles and does not transcribe, translate or verify audiovisual sync.
Privacy
This tool processes the input in your current browser tab. It does not upload your input or call a paid or remote API. Copying places text on your system clipboard; downloading saves a file on your device. Site hosting logs, analytics, ads, third-party embeds and other installed plugins are separate and can have their own data handling. JavaScript is required for the tool, while this explanation remains available without it.
