Create a QR code locally and download PNG or SVG with a four-module quiet zone.
n Inputs are processed locally by this tool. Other site plugins, hosting logs, ads and embeds have their own data handling. Text limit: 1 MiB UTF-8.
How to use QR Code Generator
- Enter text or a complete URL.
- Generate the code and inspect the preview.
- Download PNG or SVG, then scan-test at the final display size.
Example
Encode https://ghettotube.org/ and test the downloaded code with your phone before printing.
Method and formula
The locally bundled qrcode-generator library encodes UTF-8 bytes, chooses the QR version automatically and uses medium error correction. PNG and SVG output include a quiet zone of four modules on each side. Dark modules are black on a white background.
Limits and supported input
Input is limited to 1,200 UTF-8 bytes to keep output usable. Some scanners handle non-ASCII text differently; test with your intended scanners. Scanning a URL can open an external destination. The tool does not check or endorse that destination.
Privacy
This tool processes the input in your current browser tab. It does not upload your input or call a paid or remote API. Copying places text on your system clipboard; downloading saves a file on your device. Site hosting logs, analytics, ads, third-party embeds and other installed plugins are separate and can have their own data handling. JavaScript is required for the tool, while this explanation remains available without it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the QR expire?
The generated image has no expiry; an encoded destination can change or disappear.
Why leave a white border?
The quiet zone helps scanners distinguish the code from surrounding content.
